In February, 2018 Dr. Van Laeken returned to India to the city of Vijayawada. With volunteers from Reconstructing Women International (formerly Women for Women) and local doctors she performed surgeries on patients who suffered domestic abuse and burn injuries. Prior to surgery, many of the patients who were treated were unable to work to provide for themselves and their families.
